How To Vote
Voting is an important part of maintaining a vibrant democracy. College Unbound encourages all eligible students to vote in local, state and national elections. Below you will find information on how to register and vote.
Rhode Island residents, the Secretary of State offers a comprehensive website on how to register, where to vote and sample ballots. It also includes important information on the identification required to vote. You can also visit your local board of canvassers, usually located in your town or city hall, for additional information and to register. You should know that Rhode Island allows voters to cast their vote by absentee ballot by mail, meaning you do not need to visit a physical polling location to vote.
Residents of other states should contact their state office in charge of voting for additional information. This is usually the Secretary of State and/or a board/commission on elections. Typically your local town or city hall will offer information as well. The federal government provides this comprehensive website with information on voting in all U.S. states and territories.
