Official Transcripts from Prior Schools
To award credit for classes completed at prior colleges or universities, College Unbound requires the student's official transcript from those institutions. Under federal law, only the student can request the institution release the transcript to College Unbound. Most institutions take requests online with no need to visit the school in person. Typically searching Google for "request official transcript from [school's name]" will yield directions on requesting an official transcript.
If the institution offers official electronic transcripts, select College Unbound as the recipient or enter the email [email protected]. Students may request an electronic transcript (fastest option) or a paper transcript sent by mail or held for pickup at the College Unbound Administrative Offices at 115 Cedar Street., Providence, RI.
If you cannot obtain transcripts from the prior institution due to owing a balance, please know that CU will be unable to accept those credits. Official transcripts are required to ensure the integrity of the degree and adhere to national best practices important to ensuring the CU degree is seen as legitimate. Some institutions may release a transcript if the student contacts them and agrees to a payment plan.
