Learning Outcomes

General Education: You have breadth of knowledge: You can use concepts and methods from across the liberal arts to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world. The liberal arts include art, literature, history, math, and social, behavioral, natural, and physical sciences.

    • Scientific Reasoning & Experimental Method - Can use scientific and empirical reasoning to evaluate truth claims and construct knowledge
    • Quantitative Reasoning - Can use quantitative reasoning to understand natural or social phenomena and to inform decision making
  • Social & Behavioral Science | Uses concepts and methods of the social and behavioral sciences to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world

  • OLC 220, Learning from Experience | Identifies, documents, and evaluates learning from life experiences
  • AAH 330 Writing for Change | Uses research, rhetorical, and revision strategies to compose writing that proposes and argues for change
  • OLC 355, Reframing Failure | Plans for, analyzes and learns from failure
  • SBS 208 Research Justice | Can evaluate and choose methodologies for the construction of knowledge based on their emancipatory potential, while centering social action, reflection, and application
  • OLC400, Capstone | Reflects upon learning, assesses personal and professional growth, and plans for future learning and development
  • Organizational Studies | Uses concepts and methods of organizational studies to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world
  • Leadership Studies | Uses concepts and methods of leadership studies to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world
  • Change Studies | Uses concepts and methods of change studies to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world
  • Integrated & Applied Learning | Integrates and applies knowledge from lived experience and formal education to develop CU Core Project and enhance personal and professional capacities
    • Workplace and World Lab A - Can identify personal and professional goals and plan a CU Core project based upon assessment of current and required knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Workplace and World Lab Z - Can assess, articulate, and reflect upon development of Big 10 competencies over time and across contexts
Big 10: The Big 10 Transformational Leadership & Change Competencies are integral to CU's Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Change. Students submit a portfolio for each Big 10 to showcase their liberatory leadership skills.
