The full-time Administrative and Special Projects Assistant provides administrative support for the Student Success team at College Unbound and works directly with the Assistant Dean of Student Success. The Administrative and Special Projects Assistant, reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Success and has day-to-day responsibility for providing administrative and special projects support that helps to ensure that Student Success initiatives are effectively implemented. This individual also works with the Student Success team in support of College Unbound’s Prison Education Program, which focuses on providing access to education for those who have been incarcerated.

The successful applicant will be mission-driven, detail-oriented, collaborative, a creative problem solver who thrives in the all-hands-on-deck ethos of participating in an innovative higher education setting. This position will occasionally require evening work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Assistant Dean to develop and implement a system for supporting the success of students enrolled at College Unbound. Work on data platforms, such as, GMail, Airtable, & UniteUs.
• Assist the Assistant Dean in coordinating student support services, implementation of strategic plan goals related to student success, and bringing innovation to student success.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Dean to ensure that faculty and case management are working in tandem to support the success of our students.
• Work with College Unbound students to design, develop, implement, and evaluate campus initiatives for SWEL (Student Wellness and Engaged Living)
• Promote student wellness programming under the direction and in collaboration with the Student Success Team.
• Work with a CU work-study student and the Student Success Committee to establish a weekly wellness practice for CU students and monthly rhythms of rest, repair, or radical joy.

• Work with the assistant dean each semester to evaluate the success of programs and include these evaluations in the yearly Student Services Report.
Prison Education Program (PEP) and Supporting Incarcerated Students:
• Attend classes on Thursday nights at the RI Department of Corrections with the CU PEP Faculty.
• Ensure that incarcerated students' coursework is uploaded to their courses and returned to them after online instructors have given feedback.
• Host a weekly “Study Hall” for incarcerated students at the Department of Corrections depending on this role’s availability and DOC schedule.
• Ensure that all mail is promptly received and replied to at the Department of Corrections.
• Collect weekly attendance and submit this information to MYCU and TPCDS. Be responsible for the monthly maintenance of the “good time” and rosters for our prison education program.
• Coordinate outreach to the Public Defender's Office in RI to establish a relationship with this office and assist students through expungement processes.
• Coordinate a monthly Community of Practice gathering between the College Unbound Prison Education team to share insights and engagement strategies.
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• A minimum of two - three years of administrative experience or project management
• Excellent organization and task management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work some flexible hours when needed, including some evenings.
• Per requirements of the Department of Corrections (DOC), the individual in this role must receive a background check and go through the DOC New Employee Orientation to gain a badge and access to working with the team at the Department of Corrections.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience working in higher education or with adult learners
